The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) held a luncheon on 9th August, 2018 at the Intercontinental hotel in Nairobi to bid farewell to Commissioners whose term came to an end on 12th August, 2018. The Luncheon was presided over by Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Fred Matiang’i.

Dr. Matiang’i expressed his gratitude and that of President Uhuru Kenyatta for work well done since their appointment in 2014. The Commission was urged to continue fighting tribalism as it is one of the impediments of peace and stability in the Country.

Despite the challenges faced by the Commission, Dr. Matiang’i reassured the Commission that his ministry would continue supporting it to ensure it attains its mandate. Further, Dr. Matiang’i in his remarks assured Kenyans that he was doing everything possible to ensure Kenyans are constantly living in peace and harmony.

Speaking during the luncheon, the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), George Kinoti, also expressed his gratitude to the Commissioners and assured the Commission a continued support and partnership in making sure Kenyans live in a peaceful, united, harmonious and integrated Kenyan society.

The Commission led by the Chair Hon. Francis Kaparo, thanked NCIC staff for their support during their term. Despite leaving office, he stated that the work they had embarked on of uniting the nation would not stop and would endeavor in bringing Kenyans together.

Hon. Kaparo further cautioned that the handshake shouldn’t be limited between President Uhuru and Opposition leader Raila Odinga- all Kenyans should embrace the handshake and work together towards a united, peaceful country.
