Online voting for nominees of the 6th Edition of “My Kenya My Story” Mobile Phone Film Competition 2023 is ongoing. This year’s theme is Promoting Peace, Tolerance and Conflict Resolution resonating with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission’s mandate. The main goal of the competition spearheaded by The Kenya Film Commission in partnership with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) is to power the growth of local film industry countrywide with the affordability of a smart phone over “high-end equipment” and widen the scope of film making. The competition focuses on short Kenyan films shot exclusively using mobile phones, focusing on application of affordable technology in telling stories.

The Kenya Film Commission, National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), Kenya Film and Television Producers Association (KFTPA), Kenya Film School and Multimedia University form the jury for the competition.  

13 nominated films out of 117 entries from youth are now open to public online voting from Monday 22nd May to 2nd June 2023.  

The Winning film will take home Kes. 200,000. 1st Runner up 150,000. 2nd Runner up 100,000 and jury mention 50,000.  

A gala event to award the winners will be held on 9th June 2023.
