The continued conflict in Marsabit county is a matter of great concern to both the national and county Governments, communities, peace builders and other key stakeholders. Obviously the conflict does no only impede development but also threatens the fragile social cohesion fabric. Therefore, the Commission in partnership with Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC) and the Drylands Learning and Capacity Building Initiative (DLCI) have partnered to engage elders and women from the four major communities; Gabbra, Rendille, Burji and Borana, to establish the root causes of conflict. The Commission has continued to emphasize her commitment to working with all relevant stakeholders to design an all-inclusive approach to address the conflict in the county.
The team led by the NCIC Commissioners, Dr Danvas Makori and Hon Abdulaziz Farah urged for cessation of hostility to pave way for dialogue.
