The 163rd anniversary of Baden-Powell’s birthday (Founder’s Day), celebrations were marked at Kabiruini showground between 14th and 16th February, 2020.

The event that brought together over 350 scouts from 11 schools in eight sub counties in Kenya was presided over by County Scouts Commissioner Mr. George Wachania. The Chief Guest was Nyeri Town Constituency Member of Parliament, Hon. Ngunjiri Wambugu, alongside National Cohesion and Integration Commission: Acting CEO, Ms. Millicent Okatch and Assistant Director –CEAD, Mr. Kilian Nyambu.

The events theme was guided by Baden-Powell’s vision that has influenced countless generations of young people globally, providing opportunities for them to experience self-discovery through an array of activities and impact-driven initiatives.

As part of exercising her mandate on peace building and integrity, the Commission created awareness to over 100 scouts on peace building, cohesion and adverse effects on negative ethnicity. In collaboration with the Ministry of education through Amani Clubs in schools NCIC has been training young people into being peace ambassadors.

Other parties who came on board to ensure the future of generation is secure included: The National Police Service, disaster management unit, Sema GBV and Elewa.
