The National Cohesion and Integration Commission in partnership with the youths from Laikipia North region convened a peace forum on 21st to 23rd February, 2019 at St. Mark Catholic in Ol Moran town. The forum focused on peace building and reconciliation to achieve national cohesion and integration. There were a series of sensitization meetings that were conducted in a bid to enlighten youth to embrace peace and unity. The first meeting was held with the objective of educating youth leaders on the roles of youth in peace and reconciliation. Youth were also educated on the consequences of incitement and that they should shun the act of being used by politicians to propagate ethnicity and violence. The second meeting targeted the women leaders in the county with the objectives of encouraging women to be ambassadors of peace in the County. Women were also taught their roles in peace building and reconciliation in the region. The third Meeting targeted Elders from all the Sub-counties, teaching them the elements of peace and their role towards reconciliation in the region. The youth were urged to be role models to young people as a drive to spread social cohesion in the region so as to enhance sustainable development and eliminate cases of Incitement and ethnicity.
