Nyamira County

Nyamira County comprises of 5 Sub- Counties namely, Manga, Nyamira south, Nyamira North, Borabu and Masaba North. The Commission established Amani clubs in Nyamira County in 2018 and since inception the clubs have been championing peace and cohesion initiatives in the schools in the county.

Establishment of flowerbeds and general school cleaning

Done well ,encouraged more members who joined the activities

Finances for seeds and enough cleaning equipments to managed by the club

 

23/06/2019

 Partnership Community clean up at Gesima market and dispensary with Nyakongo high school

Thorough cleaning was done, later joined by the masaba north public health officer Mr. Geofrey Nyamongo who commended the work done

Cleaning equipments in sufficient, snacks for learners were lacking which shortened time of service

 

 

 

 A talk was given to students on STIs and STDs

Time was limited for the talk

 

June 31st

Health officials from Gesima visited  and sensitized  students on STDs, early pregnancy ,dangers of unprotected sex and personal health

The entire school  benefitted from the seminar courtesy of Amani club

 

 

Sept.20th

Marked world peace day, read NCIC SPEECH in the assembly

In the speech the issue of climate change and its effects was addressed, the need to maintain peace was emphasized

 

 

Oct,1st 2019

Blood donation exercise to celebrate international day of peace

Members and the entire student’s body donated blood to save lives, students were guided on why donating blood is a peace gesture, the health personnel from Kisii teaching and referral centre conducted the exercise well.

Some students were afraid of donating blood for unknown reasons

Planted flower hedges in the school compound and did general compound tidying up

The activities encouraged new members to join the club, the principal pledged full support to the club

 

 

23rd may

 Community service at Gesima dispensary and market

Working with Riamoni sec school we cleaned the hospital and entire market, the business community appreciated with snacks for students

Health officials gave an health talk to students on STDs  and STIs

 

 

31ST JUNE 2019

VISIT FROM GESIMA HEALTH FACILITY

Learners were engaged on STDs and STIs which was fruitful and helpful, early and unprotected sex  risks were equally tackled

Time was limited for exhaustive presentation

Members raised  ksh.2250 to fund the activity, a new date was set

Members were a little embarrassed for this failure

We installed five bins within the school

Several students participated and enjoyed, we enrolled more members

During the meeting, members agreed to each contribute, they raised 4500 for the activity.

 The club members identified a place and established a gum tree nursery. The management schedule of watering was agreed upon

The rains were insufficient so there was need to water the planted trees

A space was identified and a nursery was put in place for the vegetables to be planted.

A number of students appeared uncertain of the possible activities to be undertaken through the year.

Thewas able to bond the two schools with plans to have more friendly was that will help reduce school rivalry in sports that a times leads to violence.

Weekend matches when time is available become a challenge as not many teachers are available in day schools
