Marsabit County
Marsabit County Marsabit County has 4 Sub Counties namely; Moyale, North Horr, Saku and Laisamis. The key peace and cohesion challenges facing the county include, ethnic conflicts, resouerce based conflicts, boundary disputes and cattle rustling. Amani Clubs were established in the County in 2018 following the training of Amani club county coordinators. The Amani clubs in the county have undertaken several peace and cohesion related activities.
Amani Club Activities
Sensitizations- Sensitizations have been conducted in Gadamoji High school, Sasura Girls, St Paul, Moi Girls, Dakabaricha Sec., Marsabit Boys, Marsabit Mixed and Saku High. The sensitizations have led to recruitment of more members and election of officials who continue to coordinate club activities.
Tree planting- Planting of trees is a key activity among many schools in Marsabit County. This activity endevours to improve the environment and create a conducive learning environment and also reduce resource based conflicts. Tree planting brings different people together increasing social cohesion and instills a sense of responsibility in a student. Most schools like Gadamoji High School, St Paul High School, Sasura Girls School, Moi Girls High School, Dakabaricha Sec School, Marsabit Boys High, Marsabit Mixed Sec., Saku High, Badassa Primary School, Dirib Primary School and Songa Primary School all engaged in tree planting together with Kenya Forest Service at Saku High. The schools planted over 500 trees to celebrate the World Environmental Day in 2018
Training workshop for patrons and students- A capacity building workshop for patrons was conducted in March, 2018 reaching out to over 1,300 students and 8 patrons. Other key activities undertaken in the county include, award of certificates of recognition for members.
