Kitui County
Kitui County comprises of 8 Sub-Counties namely; Kitui West, Kitui Central, Kitui Rural, Kitui South, Kitui East, Mwingi North, Mwingi West and Mwingi Central. The Commision established Amani clubs in the county in 2015 and since then the County have made great strides in peace and cohesion building in the schools throgh Amani clubs. The Clubs have been instrumental in promoting good relations, harmony and peaceful coexistence amongst students, between schools and the neighboring communities. The participants in this process have undergone tremendous attitude transformation towards ethnic, religious, racial and opinion tolerance, cohesion and integration.
The schools within Kitui County continue to utilize Amani Clubs as a platform to promote the development of youth in our educational institutions into a generation of self- initiative, entrepreneurial generation that is committed to upholding the principles of self - sufficiency and self- reliance through their involvement in income- generating activities, attitudinal change and positive engagement in activities that promote self and national development.
Amani Club Activities
The Amani clubs in the county have been championong Peace advocacy through Amani Clubs, showcasing peace messages in schools. Other key activities include environmental conservation within and outside schools through cleanups, planting trees and ensuring proper disposal by introducing Amani clubs litterbins.Amani Club members have participated in various public meetings and events to discuss and promote peace. Particularly, Kitui County sent 6 students in June 2017 for the Amani Clubs' Kenya United national peace conference at Nakuru. Amani Club members engaged fellow students towards promoting peaceful conflict resolution.
