Homabay County
Homabay County is one of the 47 counties in Kenya and is divided into 7 counties namely, Homabay Town, Mbita, Ndhiwa, Rangwe Karachwonyo, Kasipul and Kabondo. The County established the Amani club programme in 2017 after the Commission made an intervention in a bid to promote peace and cohesion in the county and in particular in the schools. The County over the years have implemented various activities across the county key among them being the following.
Football for peace- Through the Amani club, various schools in the County organized football for peace tournaments where schools engaged in sports aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence among students and teachers.
Peace Forums- Amani club members from the county conducted peace forums to sensitize community members to embrace peace and coexist peacefully. Other activities conducted in the county by Amani club members include; sensitization forums, tree planting and cleaning of public facilities such as markets.
