The 2017 National Drama Festivals

The 58th Annual Kenya Schools and Colleges National Drama Festivals offered the Commission another opportunity to engage the youth in a structured and coordinated manner in the promotion of national cohesion and integration.

The competition provided an appropriate platform for the Commission to mainstream national cohesion and integration in the co-curricular activities within the education curriculum. Through the festivals, the Commission sensitized festivals’ participants (students, teachers and parents) and the general public on its mandate, achievements and challenges. The Commission also got a chance to engage the students and teachers mainly from primary and secondary schools on Amani clubs within their institutions

This was aimed at enabling students to embrace peace building practices within their institutions: mitigating conflicts through dialogue, reconciliation and mediation mechanisms; and improving relationships between schools and the surrounding communities. The festivals theme was “Enhancing National Values for Development” and they took place as from the 8th to 16th of April, 2017
