The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Vice Chair Commissioner Irene Njeri Wanyoike on Wednesday 7th January, 2015 officiated a workshop for radio journalists organized by the task force of Nyumba Kumi Initiative at the Horticultural Research Institute in Thika. Commissioner Irene Wanyoike said there was venom on social media and it had to be curbed before it got worse. She said the law was followed in sentencing Wadi to jail and his imprisonment will be a warning to other Kenyans who post negative information and insults on social media sites. Commissioner Wanyoike further said that the Commission had no political interference and it worked with all Kenyans to ensure peace and cohesion is achieved in this country. She urged the media to be ambassadors of peace and put the interests of the country and its citizens first, before reporting serious matters that undermine security and cohesion.
