The sixth edition of the annual National Diversity and Inclusion Awards and Recognition (DIAR Awards) took place on the 22nd of March, 2024 at the Sarit Expo in Nairobi. Organized by Daima Trust, the event recognized, celebrated and awarded employers, organizations, ministries, departments and agencies, semi-autonomous government agencies, County governments and individuals who promote sustainability and socially cohesive workplaces and societies in Kenya.

The NCIC has partnered and participated in five of six editions of the DIAR Awards. Key sponsors included KenGen, Safaricom (Platinum Sponsor), and Kenya Pipeline. “We celebrate not only the winners of the awards, but also the spirit of collaboration and solidarity that unites us in our shared mission,” said the Executive Director of Daima Trust, Mr. James Maina during the opening remarks. The ceremony saw a significant turnout, with over 300 attendees representing various organizations recognized in different categories. This diverse gathering highlighted the widespread engagement and commitment to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across Kenya. The presence of such a large and varied audience underscored the collective effort and shared responsibility in advancing sustainability and social cohesion in workplaces and societies.

The award criteria covered strategic vision, dedication to diversity, equity, inclusion, and climate action, investment in sustainable practices, innovative strategies, impact goals, and carbon reduction objectives. Categories included:

NotablerecognitionsincludedtheNationalCohesionandIntegrationCommission(NCIC) which received a certificate of recognition for its ongoing dedication to fostering a more inclusive and sustainable society. In the keynote speech at the DIAR Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, NCIC Vice Chairperson Wambui Nyutu expressed gratitude for the opportunity for the Commission to partner and participate.

From the stirring speeches that ignited inspiration to the dazzling performances that left guests in awe, it was a night filled with moments of celebration and recognition. As attendees bid farewell, they carried with them not just memories of a spectacular event, but a renewed sense of purpose and determination to continue the impactful work that the awards honor.
