The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), led by Deputy Director Legal Services, Mr. Kyalo Mwengi held a pivotal meeting with the National Council for Law Reporting (NCLR) on 13th March 2024 in Nairobi. The engagement was a follow-up of discussions stemming from the 24th Annual Supplement Stakeholder Sensitization Forum which took place last year.

On the agenda was identification of potential areas of collaboration, development of case digests on hate speech and incitement, ethnic discrimination, discrimination in employment, access/allocation of public resources, membership of organizations, and religious discrimination in learning institutions.

 

The meeting deliberated on the resolutions of the previous meetings on capacity strengthening between the two organizations and the publication of the case digests on the two thematic areas.

Sections 7 (1) and 11 (1) of the NCI Act Chapter 7N Laws of Kenya state that, “All public establishments shall seek to represent the diversity of the people of Kenya in the employment of staff” and “Public resources shall be distributed equitably as far as is practicable geographically to take into account Kenya’s diversity population and poverty index.”
