West Pokot County Government has launched her Peace building and Conflict Management Policy. Speaking during the launch, the Governor H.E Simon Kachapin said that the policy came at a time when the region needed a robust framework to address and navigate recent threats to peace and cohesion at the county. West Pokot now stands alongside Turkana and Lamu Counties in the Republic, having successfully implemented legislative structures dedicated to fostering peace and cohesion. The collective commitment from neighbouring counties signifies a united front against challenges to peace. The event showcased the strength of partnerships between government entities, civil society organizations (CSOs), and development partners in driving positive change. The collaborative spirit demonstrated during the launch underscores the understanding that sustainable peace requires a collective and inclusive effort.

It is envisaged that the transformative act will enable the county to position itself as a beacon of Hope and Resilience.  As the journey towards sustainable peace continues, West Pokot strides confidently into a future characterised by unity, understanding, and prosperity. Among the dignitaries invited were National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Upper Rift region team led by the Principal Officer Victor Ijaika, Vice-Chairperson - Dr. Raymond Nyeris Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), the County Commissioner of West Pokot Mr. Abdullahi Khalif and a host of Members of County Assembly (MCAs).
